Keep Moving Forward
One day, I was wandering about my residence hall. As I was going back to my room, I came across a locked door, which was blocking my way into the hallway I lived on. I realized that I had left my keycard in my room, so I had no way to unlock the door. There was no one around whom I could ask to unlock the door for me. I did not panic. Instead, I turned and walked the other way. I didn't really have a plan. I just kept moving forward. As I approached a stairwell, the idea popped into my head that the door to the upstairs hallway might be open. I climbed the stair, and sure enough, that door was open. So I walked all the way across the upstairs hallway, and I reached another stair that went down to the hallway I lived on. The door on that side was open, as it always was. Thus, by going upstairs and coming back down on the other end of my hallway, I was able to return to my room without a keycard. Keep moving forward. Even if you're lost.
