Procrastination

Image
Time is a precious thing. As a senior in high school, I can certainly attest to that. People often ask me what colleges I've applied to, and I can only say that I've been procrastinating on that. In a way, our whole lives are just procrastination. When we're doing one thing, we're procrastinating for all the other things we have to do. This is why, as Gandalf said, "All that we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us." Gah... I should be doing my calculus homework.

The History of Neon (part 1)

Wow, I haven't posted anything here for months. Life took over for a while. Anyways, I had a spark of inspiration while in the shower the other day, which produced this snippet. Hopefully more will come soon. This story has been under development for over two years, but I never got farther than an outline. This is the first bit I actually got into writing. Hope you enjoy! :D      The planet called Neon received its name from the purple glow of its atmosphere. For a long time humans did not go there because it was inhabited by aliens. But one day a man named Reaper gathered a group of followers to attempt to colonize Neon. They traveled to Neon in their spaceships and landed in a snowy wood. The aliens attacked them, but the humans with their advanced weapons prevailed over the aliens. Soon the humans conquered the entire planet, and the remaining aliens were hiding in caves. The humans then drew up a constitution and appointed Reaper to be their governor.  ...

Strider Wingfoot: History of the Ring

I haven't posted anything for weeks, partly because I can't find time to write stuff but also because I don't have many ideas for what to post. So, here is a timeline for one of my stories, called Strider Wingfoot and the Ring of Power . This story was heavily inspired by The Lord of the Rings , but I also mixed in many other elements. AD 22. The Ring is forged. 2007.  The One Ring passes to Melissa Tremmelton, owner of the Mines of Santa Margarita. 2008. Birth of Strider Wingfoot. 2020. Azog the Goblin captures the Mines of Santa Margarita. Gollum murders Melissa and takes the Ring for himself. 2021. Steve and Andrew defeat Gollum. The Ring passes out of knowledge. 2023. Strider builds his time machine. 2033. Caustic Funnybunny sends Strider to find the Ring. As for what happens after this, I will hopefully write a post about it soon.

Concerning Names and Titles

One thing I find troublesome about book-writing is making up names for characters and places and a title for the story.  Although, I have made up some names I'm quite proud of. For example, there's my pseudonym, Strider Wingfoot. This name was constructed from two of Aragorn's nicknames in The Lord of the Rings . I liked this name so much that I gave it its own character and tried to write a story about him which I called Strider Wingfoot: The Pirate with the Time Machine . And that's where the name of my blog came from. Sometimes I create a name by mashing together random letters. This produces results like Catslosh, Jebjab, Vittz, etc. Other times a name appears to me in a dream. Some of those are Lizzie Greenleaf, Caroline Shatney, George Pellode, etc. Unfortunately I can't control my dreams so I don't get many of these. I find it very difficult to make up a story title I'm satisfied with. The only one I actually like that I can think of right now is Stri...

Greetings and Salutations!

Welcome to my blog! I am called Strider—actually, that's not my real name, it's a pseudonym I made up for myself. I first entered the blogiverse on this day one year ago, and I have seen many blogs. I've decided that now is the time to start my own blog. For my first post, I'll tell a little bit about myself: I'm crazy good at the piano. I might not a professional, but I can play some fairly difficult stuff like the Revolutionary Etude, Fantasie-Impromptu, and Moonlight Sonata. I like to make piano covers of music I like, such as the Lord of the Rings soundtrack. I enjoy playing a video game called Geometry Dash. It's basically a scrolling platformer game where you try to dodge obstacles, but you're always moving. It's super hard, very frustrating, and highly addictive, but still fun. I love reading, especially books by J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis. I recently finished reading The Fellowship of the Ring for the third time and am currently reading The T...
